A Tribute to My Father for Father's Day
From the President:My father ran away from home at 17 and joined the Army. He'd
grown up on a farm in Three Oaks, Michigan with a younger brother, Richard, mother,
an ultra-stern father, and a grandmother.
Three Oaks was a small rural town where men hunted and wore Elmer
Fudd-looking hats. Both my dad and uncle were handsome young men. My father, Carl, got his blonde looks from
his father, and uncle Richard got his dark looks from his mother. My dad didn’t get along well with his dad at

The Care and Handling of Nuts
Over the years, customers have been asking me about storing
nuts, roasting nuts and ways to use nuts.
It’s finally time to respond to you with all the information I’ve
gleaned over the last 30 years. I’m not
a food scientist, but I do know nuts.
I’m in the right business; I love nuts! You might find other information elsewhere that varies a
little. I’ve seen it myself. This is the way I do it, and frankly, in my

One Year Update on Our Overstock of Airline Nuts
This Saturday, July 24th, will be the 1-year
anniversary of our first sale of surplus airline nut mixes on our web site
GreatNuts.com. The airlines took our nuts off of their first class service due

nuts, plus enough ingredients at our plant to produce an additional 30,000
bags. That was over 125,000 lbs. of surplus nuts. To move them before they went
out of date we sold them at nea

A Special Thanks to My Team
As a small woman-owned and family-run business, we all wear
many, many hats. And we are all running
in different directions throughout the day, asking questions to each other as
we pass each other in the hallways. I
don’t get many opportunities to give a big hug of thanks to my team, much less
recognize them in writing, so here it is!Heading my team is my stepson, David Milroy. When I’m not around, and sometimes when I am,
he’s your go-to guy. He can repair every
piece of equipment in

Thank You to Our Customers
In July, after I was convinced the airlines were not going
to put their nut mixes back in First Class, I issued a news release saying that
our website, Great Nuts.com, and our store, GreatNuts.com, would be selling
bags of the nuts mixes at near cost. It started
with a front page article in the Fort Worth Star Telegram by Bud Kennedy, and
from there spread like wildfire.I was interviewed by the Dallas Morning News, Channel 11,
Channel 5, Telemundo, a radio station, and I can’t even recall
